Dale Bullard age 64 of Smithville, passed away Wednesday February 12, 2025, at Quality Center for Rehab and Healing in Lebanon. He was born July 5, 1960, to his parents the late, Leburn and Ira Phillips Bullard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister: Ann Rigsby; brothers: Riley Bullard and Tim Bullard; mother of his children: Judy Bullard. Mr. Bullard was of the Non-denominational Faith and was a self-employed Electrician and Plumber. He is survived by children: Richard (Shannon) Bullard of Cookeville, and Jennifer Bullard of Smithville; grandchildren: Ricky Bullard, Lucas Bullard, Addilyn Bullard, Aleah Dye, Kayden Jacobs; great-grandchild: Silas Dye; sisters: Pamela (Buster) Pleasant of Rock Island and Marie (James) Bain of Smithville. Funeral services will be held 3:30PM Sunday February 16, 2025, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Darrell Gill officiating and burial to follow at DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday February 15, 2025, 2 PM till 8 PM and on Sunday February 16, 2025, 10:AM until the time of the service at 3:30 PM. Cristy Lynn Judkins age 53 passed away Tuesday February 11, 2025, at Willow Branch L T C Facility in McMinnville. She was born April 8, 1971, to her parents the late Leon and Janice Hicks Biggs. Cristy was of the Pentecostal Faith and a Factory Worker. She is survived by her husband, Douglas Judkins of Smithville; children, Becky (Corey) Dickens of Smithville, Amber Womack of McMinnville, and Sha (Phillip) Martin of Smithville; step-children, Jonathan Judkins, Eric Judkins, and Jason Judkins all of Smithville; 6 grandchildren; sister, Shannon Williams of McMinnville. Graveside services and burial will be held Wednesday February 12, 2025, at 11:00AM at Burton-Ponder Cemetery. There will not be any visitation or services held at the funeral home. Family and friends will meet at Burton-Ponder Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with final expenses. Claude Astor Morgan, III
Claude “Mr. Bud” Astor Morgan, III, age 87 of Smithville, passed away Monday morning February 10, 2025, at his residence. He was born September 4, 1937, to his parents, the late Claude Astor Morgan, II, and Florence Elizabeth Snyder Morgan Palmer. He was a salesman for Cooper Tire & Rubber Co., served in the Virginia National Guard and attended Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include 2 Children: Julie (Mark) David of Smithville, Craig (Holly) Morgan of Ft. Worth, TX.; Grandchildren: Kristal (Johnny) Turner, Tyler (Elisabeth) David, Kylie Gathright, Geren Gathright; Great Grandchildren: Trace Turner, Natchez Turner, Flynn David and Rose David. The family has honored Mr. Morgan’s request to be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held 5 PM Saturday, February 15, 2025 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bill Robertson officiating. Visitation will be Saturday 4 PM until the service at 5 PM. Melinda Williams
Melinda Williams age 57 of Smithville, passed away Saturday night, February 8, 2025, at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. She was born in Abilene, Texas on November 3, 1967, to her parents, Frances Washburn Hill and the late Billy Hill. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Bobbie Hill and aunt, Elaine Washburn. She was a Christian and a caregiver before becoming disabled. She is survived by her husband, Don Williams of Smithville; 5 children, Lisa (Shane) Smith of Lebanon, John Williams (Cass Adkins) of Smithville, Mary (Bryan) Cantrell of Smithville, David (Mike) Williams-Burr of Gainesboro and Daniel (Stephanie) Williams of Greenfield, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, Braxton Cantrell, Preston Cantrell, Eli Cantrell, Haley Cantrell, Sawyer Smith, Isla Williams, Orabelle Williams, Kaulder Williams, Cassie Williams, Kaitlyn Williams, Zayvion Pearson and Harmony Peyatt; mother, Frances Hill of Old Hickory, 2 brothers, Scott Hill of Gallatin, Frank Hill of Holiday, TN and sister, Diana (Les) Anderson of Old Hickory along with other family and friends. Charles Elbert Young age 93, of the Dibrell Community passed away Saturday afternoon, February 8, 2025 at NHC HealthCare in McMinnville. He was born June 14, 1931 to his parents, the late Henry and Myrtle Jones Young. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 6 siblings, Maureen Gillette, Juanita Donalson, Betty Jean Young, Willie Young, Gerald Young and Marvin Young. Mr. Young was a retired Elementary School Teacher with Warren County Schools and he was a faithful member of the New Bildad Primitive Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Barbara Young of the Dibrell Community; 3 children, Terry (Joyce) Young of Smithville, Tonia (Marty) Lockman of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA and Tim (Marilyn) Young of Tunnel Hill, GA; 6 grandchildren, Erin, Amy, Kelley, Isaac, Nia and Tela; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Jimmy Earl (Marlene) Young of Dibrell; several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside services and interment will be 10:AM Monday, February 10, 2025 at DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Elder Ricky Arnold officiating. There will not be any visitation or services held at the funeral home. Family and friends will meet at DeKalb Memorial Gardens for the graveside service at 10:AM. Charles Brook Moseley, JR
Charles Brook Moseley, JR of Smithville, age 76 passed away Wednesday morning February 5, 2025, at his son’s residence in McMinnville. He was born in Detroit, Michigan September 13, 1948 to his parents, the late Charles and Beatrice Glafel Moseley, SR. Mr. Moseley worked for Porter Roofing before retirement. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda Moseley of Smithville; son, Jason (Beth) Moseley of McMinnville; siblings, Marty Moseley, Corey Moseley, and Diane Barnette. The family has honored Mr. Moseley’s request to be cremated and no services are planned at this time. Marshall Cody Hullett
Marshall Cody Hullett, age 22, of the Johnson Chapel community, passed away on Tuesday night, February 4, 2025, at his residence. Born on April 19, 2002 in Lebanon. Marshall was an avid horse rider who enjoyed fishing and farming.
He is survived by his father, Bobby Hullett, his mother, Laura Brown Nichols, and his step-father, Doug Young, all of Smithville. He is also survived by his brothers, Blake Nichols of Smithville and Nathan Bassham of Washington, and his special aunt, Stacy (Ronnie) Taylor of Smithville.
Marshall was preceded in death by his brother, Bo Brown, and his stepmother, Melinda Hullett.
Visitation with the family will be held on Friday from 1:30 to 7:00 pm and on Saturday from 10:00 am until the service at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bro. Darrell Gill will officiate, and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Bettye Jo Paris Manning Hackett
Mrs. Bettye Jo Paris Manning Hackett, age 94, of Alexandria, TN, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday Morning, February 2, 2025.
Mrs. Hackett was born July 26, 1930 in Brush Creek, TN, a daughter of the late Edgar Campbell Paris and Levie Ballinger Paris. She married L.D. Hackett in October of 1952 and he preceded her in death in April of 1996 after 44 years of marriage. Their only son; Milton Campbell Hackett was born July 2, 1953 and he preceded her in death on March 31, 1979.
Mrs. Bettye Jo married Ralph Manning, her high school sweetheart, in October of 2002 and he preceded her in death in April of 2012.
Mrs. Manning was also preceded in death by her siblings; James Estes (Laura) Paris, Alton (Evelyn) Paris, Varena (L.V.) Thompson, and Virginia (Bob) Oakley. Nephews; Bobby Gerald and Terry Oakley, Ronald Paris, Leonard Paris, and David Paris. Nieces; Cynthia Oakley Vantrease and Bobbye Jo Oakley Ezell. Great-nephews; Jody Paris Vantrease.
Mrs. Bettye Jo was a 1947 graduate of Gordonsville High School and a 1951 graduate of Tennessee Polytechnic Institute. She was hired by the Smith County Board of Education where she taught at Gordonsville High School for two years. She then taught and coached girl’s basketball at Kato, Pleasant Shade, and Carthage Junior High School. After that, she taught Health and coached girl’s basketball at Lebanon High School for three years. She and her family moved to the campus of Tennessee Preparatory School where she taught health, PE, Biology, and coached basketball. During this time, she earned a Master’s Degree from MTSU and an EDS from TSU plus 13 hours on her doctorate. Mrs. Bettye Jo retired in 1990 and moved to their farm near McMinnville, TN. Here they raised Black Angus cattle and Percheron and Belgian horses. They enjoyed entertaining and would have hundreds of visitors come to see their spectacular Christmas Decorations. They also enjoyed using their horses in parades and weddings.
Mrs. Bettye Jo was a member of the Union Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Smith County Retired Teacher’s Association, and Southside Lions Club. Most recently, Mrs. Bettye Jo became a member of West Main Baptist Church in Alexandria where she was baptized in August of 2024.
Mrs. Bettye Jo is survived by Nephews; James (Corrine) Paris, Brownie (Blackie) Paris, and Jeff (Sherry) Paris. Nieces; Rebecca (Noel) Tolbert, Brenda (Charles) Prichard, Janice (Don) Hensley, Nancy (Fred) Smith, Ginabeth (Sam) Young, Renee (Ray) Wisdom. 18 great nephews, 11 great nieces, and a multitude of great-great nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Bettye Jo’s caregivers over the last several years; Lisa Martin, Gail Thompson, Marie Croslin, and Valerie Gillespie.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Bettye Jo are scheduled to be conducted from West Main Baptist Church in Alexandria, TN, on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 1PM with Bro. Dusty Desimone, Bro. Jeff Paris, and Bro. Dennis Croslin officiating. Interment will follow in the Brush Creek Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be at Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 2PM until 7:30PM and at West Main Baptist Church in Alexandria on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 10AM until service time at 1PM.
The family requests memorials be made to the Hemophilia and Blood Disorder Foundation at Monroe Carell Children’s Hospital in memory of Milton Hackett.
Derek Wade McIntosh
Derek Wade McIntosh, age 36 of Smithville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 2, 2025 in Nashville. He was a fork lift operator with Nissan. He was an avid biker and musician as well as the vice president of the Truckers, Bikers and Veterans Riding Club and loved fishing, golfing, playing guitar and just being outdoors.
He was born on December 31, 1988 in Oxford, Ohio. Derek was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Lonnie Mack which was the inspiration of Derek’s love of music. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Malessia (Sugar) Bowling.
Visitation with the family will be on Saturday from 2:00 to 6:00 pm and on Sunday from 11:30 until the service at 1:00 in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery.
Survivors include his father, Eric McIntosh of Smithville; mother, Marla (Richard) Harsh of Indiana; 6 year old daughter, Melody McIntosh and mother of his child, Cassandra Yanicki both of Rock Island; 1 sister, Chayil (Cory) Gindling of Indiana; 2 brothers, Andrew Harsh and Dylan Harsh both of Indiana; grandfather, Charles Bowling and grandmother, Ruth Wilson both of Indiana; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Phyllis Elaine Hansard
Phyllis Elaine Hansard, age 87, of Smithville, passed away peacefully to be with Jesus on the evening of February 3, 2025, at Ascension St. Thomas in Murfreesboro, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Born on September 18, 1937, in New Tazewell, TN, Phyllis was a devoted homemaker and a retired sales clerk from Upton’s. She was a cherished member of Smithville First Baptist Church.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 71 years, Doyle Hansard, her brother Durward Drummonds, and her sister Janice Beason. She is survived by her two sons, Gerald Hansard of New Tazewell and Richard (Lynda) Hansard of Smithville. Her legacy continues through her four grandchildren, Melissa (Vincent) Daniels of Sharps Chapel, Tracey Hansard (Philip Williams) of Knoxville, Lauren (Randy) Noska of Spring Hill, and Randall Hansard (Kali Hutson) of Smithville, as well as her two great-grandchildren, Emily Daniels and Neyland Noska, brothers-in-law; Rondal Hansard, Mike (Nancy) Hansard and Larry Dean (Mary Frances) Hansard, sister-in-law; Eva Hansard. The family extends special thanks to her dedicated caregiver, Tanna Harris.
Visitation with the Hansard family will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm in the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, followed by a service at 6:00 pm officiated by Bro. Chad Ramsey. Additionally, there will be a visitation on Saturday from 2:00 until the service at 4:00 pm at Coffey Funeral Home in New Tazewell.
